Important Health Information

 Preventing Meningitis

You may have been aware of national publicity over the last few years about the occurrence of meningitis in universities.

The main purpose of this communication is to draw your attention to the fact that the College is working on the assumption that all school/college leavers coming to College this   Autumn will have been vaccinated against the following:

‘C’ strain meningitis as part of the Government programme introduced several years ago;

  • MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) ideally you should have had two of these vaccinations;
  • The DTaP/IPV/Hib vaccination, which provides protection against the Hib virus, as well as diphtheria,whooping cough, tetanus and polio.

If you have not had these vaccinations for some reason, we would advise you to contact your GP/Doctor to make the necessary arrangements to have them before you come to start your studies.

NHS Doctor’s Surgery on Campus
