AECC granted Silver Award in TEF rankings

Bournemouth’s Anglo-European College of Chiropractic have successfully been awarded Silver Status in the results of the first government Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The TEF has rated 295 institutions and the College welcomes the publication of the rankings which detail the Gold, Silver or Bronze status of many educational institutions across the country.
The AECC’s Silver Award will be valid for the next three years and adds to the growing momentum of the College’s further recent success with their bestowed Taught Degree Awarding Powers and University College status.
The TEF formed a key part of the recent Higher Education and Research Act (2017) and will continue to develop as a focused approach to university teaching and student outcomes. Student progress is now in the spotlight as the new government ranking benchmarks student data, taking into account the difference a university can make to an individual’s learning development.
The TEF Panel reflected judgement in their findings and made reference to the AECC’s consistently excellent outcomes for all groups of students, particularly the progression for students into highly skilled employment or further study. The College’s institutional culture, learning resources and facilities were also highly praised as well-developed and outstanding.
Professor Haymo Thiel, AECC Principal, commented: “I am delighted that the AECC has been awarded a Silver ranking. A Silver Award means that a university is consistently exceeding rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education. This award clearly reflects the dedication of all our staff in providing high-quality, engaged teaching in a supportive and stimulating learning environment.”
Often more specialist institutions are excluded from traditional league tables due to small student numbers, however the TEF results have given credit to their strengths, and allowed for a more level-playing field to show excellence wherever it is found.
